Mauritius honeymoonIt is important to take your time when deciding where to go for your honeymoon. Today there are a huge number of romantic and exciting locations at which you can enjoy your new found martial status.

If you are after a destination which provides you the ultimate in relaxation and enjoyment you could do far worse than considering a Mauritius honeymoon package.

The paradise island

Mauritius is often referred to as a paradise island. It offers a large number of pristine beaches and five star resorts as well as secluded villas and quality hotels. Located in the Indian Ocean not far from Madagascar it is a destination which has not yet been spoilt by mass tourism. You will find that the people are very friendly and hospitable. You will soon forget the stress of the flight and be able to make the most of your honeymoon.

The culture that is found on the island is an interesting mix of its colonial past. You can find architecture that has been heavily influenced by French and British ties as well as immigrants from the Indian subcontinent. This is also apparent in the diverse range of foods and crafts that are available.

Stunning beaches

Perhaps the biggest draw is the stunning beaches that abound along the coast. For example Grand Baie has developed a reputation as the perfect setting to relax and take in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean that have a diverse range of tropical marine life. Here you can organise sailing expeditions or try your hand at windsurfing or waterskiing. There is also the option of taking a heli-tour along the coast for an experience that will never be forgotten.

If you want to sample the local hospitality you should head to Cape Malheureux. This is a petite fishing settlement found on the most northern tip of Mauritius. Here you will be offered magnificent views to many small islands that are located just off shore such as Isle Plate with its famous lighthouse and Isle aux Serpente and Isle Ronde.

Those honeymooners that love water sports have the option of basing themselves in Tamarin, the islands surfing hot spot. The atmosphere here is laid back and provides the perfect setting to kick back and enjoy a romantic meal before heading out to catch a breaker or two. Inland there are waterfalls, lush vegetation, and plenty of attractions where you can wile away your days.

Mont Choisy

Another option would be to stay at Mont Choisy. This beach has developed a reputation as one of the best on the island. It is a place where you can mingle with the local inhabitants and get a feeling for just why it is Mauritius was such an important outpost for various colonial forces.

For an altogether different experience there is the option of booking a stay on Isle aux Cerfs. This is a small island situated off the east coast of Mauritius. If you have an image in your mind of what a paradise island should look like there is every chance that this is it. It offers vast beaches that are fringed with majestic palms and calm waters.
