The Spanish fleet used to deposit many of the treasures they bought to the New World. Nowadays it is full of museums and art galleries, and the pretty streets are romantic to walk around.

While in Havana it is worth going to one of the independent state sanctioned restaurants, which are usually family run and are not supposed to have more than twelve seats. They have to serve rustic Cuban food, and cannot serve what is considered to be luxury food. Often the food can be much better than the state run hotels and restaurants.

Havana is famous for its cabarets, and you can go to a show and enjoy the dancing whilst sipping a cocktail. Afterwards visit the famous Tropicana nightclub, or one of the many other establishments in the city. There is often a strict dress code to get in, but inside the emphasis is on dancing.

Fabulous beaches

Cuba is renowned for its fabulous beaches, as they have been immaculately preserved so the coral is in pristine, and the waters are wonderfully warm. Varadero Beach makes a great honeymoon destination as it has more than twenty kilometres of fine white sandy beaches. There are also lots of caves and lagoons to explore. The cities of Matanzas and Cardenas are nearby, and have interesting environmental, historical and cultural sites to visit.

It is also ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling. There are courses for beginners who wish to learn how to scuba dive. There are also packages of dives which include some day and night time dives both in the open water and in underwater caves.

Varadero has god conditions for just about all of the year, making it the perfect place to relax with your new husband or wife. The hotels are luxurious, and there is some shopping to be had, as well as a golf course. Varadero is perfectly placed for exploring, and many different excursions can be booked from here.
